Funding
UASA’s short and long term goals are to heighten awareness of sexual violence and its implications on society, while forging ahead to eliminate all forms of sexual violence. It is through the generous support of the community that our vision will be realized.
UASA receives funding from the Crime Victims Restitution budget through the State of California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) which receives funding from Federal sources to allow for the funding of rape crisis centers throughout the United States. The CalEMA grant funds a large portion of our crisis intervention services and provides for the opportunity to offer the state-mandated training for Sonoma County certification as a crisis line counselor. Funding also comes from the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and Department of Health Services (funded by the Center for Disease Control) to support sexual violence prevention services in Sonoma County. Local county and state funds support additional services to children, youth and families. The remaining funds necessary to support agency programs and services are derived from a variety of foundation and corporate grants, individuals, and special events such as the annual Human Race, and UASA’s Celebration Dinner/Dance.
UASA services are provided throughout Sonoma County to children, youth, women, and men regardless of socio-economic status. All UASA programs rely on the generosity of our funders and donors, as well as client donation based fees to maintain the integrity of our work which is paramount to individual success. Due to growing need for services, UASA is always researching creative and innovative ways in which to build collaborative partnerships and provide our supporters the greatest return for their investment in this worthwhile and life changing cause. The recent economic downturn has only served to heighten our resolve to maintain our continuum of services as we work towards ensuring our supporters, both new and long-term, recognize the importance of their investment and the impact on the lives of our clients.
UASA is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization in the State of California. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
